Early 20th C. Persian Glazed Pottery Bowl

Near East, Persia (current day Iran), ca. 1920s CE. A splendid and sizeable pottery bowl presenting conical walls that straighten to a gently lipped rim, all sitting upon a tiered base. Boasting a lustrous glaze of sky blue and black atop a cream-hued ground, the interior of the vessel is adorned by gorgeous abstract motifs divided into several bands of vegetal designs with a quatrefoil at the center. The upper half of the exterior walls are also embellished by a shimmering coat of glaze with a lovely crisscross pattern encircling the area near the rim. A stunning example from Persian culture! Size: 13.75" in diameter x 6.75" H (34.9 cm x 17.1 cm)
