Early French World War II "Mystery" MAS-36 7.5 French Bolt Action Rifle FFL Required 60 (CWA1)
An Early French Military World War II "Mystery" MAS-36 7.5 French Bolt Action Rifle. Referred to as a Mystery MAS due to the unusual unmarked receiver. These were thought to be assembled by French Resistance in secret during the war. Some say these were pre-production Trials rifles. Whatever the story there is no definitive records. Ian McCollum from Forgotten Weapons did a video on the MAS 36 and briefly mentioned the Mystery MAS. This rifle has no import mark and no serial number in the usual spot. There is a small "60" Serial number near the top of the receiver. All early features are present. The early barrel band sling swivel, early front sight and black paint finish. Bore is in excellent condition and very bright. Other Mystery MAS online have sold for an average of $1500. Interestingly enough, the rifle also lacks the common suffix code that all French rifles are required to have for record and shipment info.
