Born in Toulouse, Edmond Dulac arrived in London in 1904 and became naturalized British citizen in 1912. He found work as an illustrator. In 1907 when the present work was exhibited at the Leicester Square Gallery, he provided fifty illustrations for a new edition of Stories from the Arabian Nights.
