~ Edwardian Silver Rose Bowl And Stand From The Goriajan Polo Club ~
~ London 1906 ~
This is a very fine looking silver rose bowl.
The bowl is of an octagonal panelled form with a circular lip and two handles.
The bowl is fully hallmarked as silver ‘London 1906’. There is also the makers mark of ‘C.C.P.’ for Charles Clement Pilling.
The bowl sits upon an octagonal, ebonised wooden pedestal base. Upon this is a silver plaque reading: To Mr & Mrs Chas Forbes from The Members of The Goriajan Club’.
The Goriajan Club was a polo club in Assam, India that started c1900 and carried on into the 1980’s.
~ Dimensions ~
The bowl has a diameter of 8 inches (20.5cm) and is 4 inches (10cm) deep. It weighs 830g. Across the handles it measures 11.75 inches (29.5cm).
The base has a diameter of 6 ½ inches (16.5cm) and is 2 ¾ inches (7cm) deep. It weighs 665g.
~ Condition ~
The bowl is in sound condition but does have a few knocks and scratches, please refer to the images. The base is in good condition with only minor wear.
