Eero Saarinen Womb Chair with Original Upholstery and Steel Frame Offered for sale is an early example of the "Womb" chair designed by Eero Saarinen in 1948 at the request of Florence Knoll. This wonderful vintage chair retains the original bright orange upholstery which does show some vintage wear. The chair was a design made for Florence Knoll as she requested Saarinen to design a chair she could curl up in, hence the name womb chair was born.
