Egyptian Faience Bead Necklace w/ Djed Pillar Pendant

Ancient Egypt, Third Intermediate to Late Dynastic period, 21st to 31st Dynasty, ca. 1070 to 332 BCE. An elegant and wearable necklace composed of dozens of glazed faience beads in seed and tubular forms. Groups of seed beads alternate with lengthy tubes along the strands and present in hues of crimson, citrine, teal, sage, cobalt, sunflower, and amethyst. Hanging in the center is a molded faience djed pillar, an ancient Egyptian symbol that represents the human spine and its significance in the process of reincarnation and reanimation. Strung in modern times and capped with a silver-plated T-hook and loop combo, this is a wonderful example of attractive Egyptian artistry. Size (necklace): 18" L (45.7 cm); (djed pillar): 0.375" W x 1.125" H (1 cm x 2.9 cm).
