Egyptian Glazed Faience Ushabti for a Wab Priest

Ancient Egypt, Third Intermediate period, 21st to 25th Dynasty, ca. 1070 to 664 BCE. A mold-formed faience ushabti covered in lustrous blue glaze. The figure stands in mummiform with fused legs, holds the symbolic pick and hoe in hands crossed atop the chest, and has a seed bag painted behind both shoulders. The serene visage is defined by slender ovoid eyes, a petite nose, tapered cheeks, and cupped ears, all beneath a tripartite wig and a thin headband. The front of the legs bears a black-painted hieroglyphic inscription that dedicates the statue to Osiris and identifies the individual as a Wab Priest with a partial name of Heb. Size: 0.875" W x 2.2" H (2.2 cm x 5.6 cm); 3.625" H (9.2 cm) on included custom stand.

Condition Report: Minor nicks and abrasions to legs, body, and head, with light fading to areas of original glaze and hieroglyphic inscription, and light encrustations, otherwise intact and very good. Light earthen deposits and great traces of original glaze pigment throughout.
