Egyptian Glazed Faience Wadjet Eye Pendant

Ancient Egypt, Third Intermediate Period, 21st to 25th Dynasty, ca. 1070 to 664 BCE. A mold-formed faience amulet depicting a wadjet (or wedjat, "Eye of Horus"), an ancient ocular symbol of protection. The eye components are glazed with dark blue pigment that stands out within the lighter blue pigment of the surrounding areas. A narrow suspension hole is perforated lengthwise through the body. Size: 1.25" W x 1" H (3.2 cm x 2.5 cm)
