A lovely Egyptian banded vessel with ancient alabaster lid, Middle Kingdom, c. 2061 - 1690 BC, carved from a lovely, banded material with barrowed neck and wide flat rim. H: 2 1/2 in (6.3 cm); Dia: 2 in (5 cm). Lid from a different vessel originally, but still ancient. Ex Devon, UK private collection acquired in the 1950's - 60's, thence by descent.
