Emile Gallé - Emile Gallé - Glass object, Vase
Floral Art nouveau Vase "Iris" by "Emile Gallé" (Nancy) The vase is signed with "Gallé" from the late 19th century (early piece before the Master´s death) . It´s made from multilayered cameo glass in colourless, violet (mauve) and honey yellow. The decor is acid-etched and fire-polished, bottom and top are refined and polished cleanly. This wonderful Art nouveau piece is a nice example of French glass art from the Lorraine region. It´s decorated with Iris plants with leaves and blooming flowers in the grass. The details are finely etched into the thick glass and the colours accentuate the vegetal motif. The vase has a waisted shape with a round diameter and a widening top. On the photos, the acid-etched signature can be seen in detail. There´s also a small No. "2" besides the signature, probably a model number, which is very rare! This beautiful piece is in a good condition without any cracks or chips. It was probably shortened at the top and has a minor defect in the glass (coming from the production process) . At the bottom, there are some minor scratches (which is totally normal from standing) .
