of oblong shape with side handles, the geometric and floral decorated brim centred with a noble coat of arms with the Gaelic motto "Gwell Angau Chywilydd" (Death rather than dishonour). Stamped with the Elkington & Co. silversmith's mark in use in 1877 for silver plated objects (E.P.N.S. electroplatednickelsilver) and with the diamond-shaped English registry mark used by the English patent office from 1842 to 1883; the model of this tray was patented on the 21rst of July 1875. Dimensions 64.5 x 44.5 cm. Item condition grading: **** good.
