Provenance: Oaklawn Manor, Franklin, LA; Estates of George and Mary Beth Thomson, Franklin, LA Note: Born in Modena, Italy in 1859, Eugenio Zampighi studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in his hometown and was inspired by the historical painter Giovanni Muzzioli. Zampighi traveled throughout Italy studying art and eventually settled in Florence, where he began creating genre paintings of domestic scenes. His work regularly depicted jovial peasants within idyllic Italian interiors, rendered in a warm palette with meticulous attention to detail. The canvas offered here is a superlative example of his most-desired tableaus.
