Europese School - Brieflezende dame met boodschapper in interieur
\Artist: Europese School
Technique: Oil on panel\Signature: Not signed\Dimensions: 70_56_6_cm
European School 18th/19th century, after Gerard Ter Borch (1617-1681) . Letter-reading lady with messenger in interior. Dimensions without the frame: 51. 5 x 38. 5 cm. Excellent copy of a Dutch Master. Presumably late 18th or 19th century. Painted with very delicate brush strokes. Especially the hands and faces are very well done. The original was purchased in 1820 by the Musée des beaux-arts de Lyon where it still hangs today. It is possible the artist saw it there. The painting is in good condition. The varnish is even and transparent. The panel has a light ripple in the middle, which means that there is a thin slit in the paint layer. This is especially noticeable under the table. In the top right corner is an older retouching (repainted) . The bottom corner ornaments of the frame are slightly damaged. The painting will be well-packed for insured and registered shipping. Pickup is also possible. Origin: from a French collection.
