A hoodlum blinds a cop with phosphorus ("MY EYES! MY EYES! I CAN'T SEE!"), then kicks him out of a moving car and blasts him full of lead ("Well, he don't have to worry about them eyes no more!"). Cited by Dr. Wertham as a particularly egregious example of the "injury-to-eye" motif: "A generation is being desensitized by these literal horror images."
