FANG-MABEA ANCESTOR FIGURE, CAMEROON

Height: 21 ⅝ in (55 cm)

Condition Report:
Very good condition overall with wear consistent with age and use. Minor age cracks, including a hairline crack down the spine. The tenon/post is broken and reattached with a nailed brass plate repair that appears to have been made in situ. The upper portion of the object in the hands is broken and glued, possibly a restoration. Some marks, nicks, scratches, abrasions, and small chips in places, as well as some small holes, staining, and discoloration from previous metal attachments. Eyes with encrusted remains of applied material. Dark brown aged patina with remains of black pigment in places, and some old European applied finish. Has base.
