FINE SHARPS NEW MODEL 1863 PERCUSSION SRC
SERIAL 56385. BARREL 22". CALIBER 52. MADE FROM 1863-1864. About 40,000 made during middle of conflict. These were the most reliable and most desired weapons of the Civil War and when the conflicted ended, most were beat to death and refinished, converted to cartridge, and sent West making it extremely difficult to find a prime condition mid war percussion carbine. Standard features include a round barrel that is stamped New Model 1863 at breech along with Sharps Rifle Manufg. Co Hartford Conn. Both side of frame have Sharps patent dates. Frame has auto tape priming system. Walnut stocks are excellent with sharp cartouche on left side of butt stock in ribbon. Condition. Barrel is soft clean patina with mixed original blue. Case colors have faded to soft gray. Saddle ring and bar are present as is the original Lawrence pat. rear sight. Bore is sharp. This is definitely one of the better condition mid war Sharps carbines to come down the pike. A
