FRENCH VICTORIAN PILLOW CASES (2) - Cotton - Late 19th century
This is a superb pair and rare to get a pair these days as the pillow cases are mostly single now due to wear and tear. It proves that they are little used and left in the armoire "for a rainy day". The initials are exceptionally embroidered and 8 cm in size. Buds and leaves are accompanying the letters and with a very harmonious result. The scalloped borders are crocheted and this I have never seen before and the crochet is exquisitely achieved. A very excellent pair to get.
