Federal Inlaid Mahogany Sideboard, possibly Charleston, South Carolina, c. 1790-1800, the top with ovolo corners and checkered banding on a case of central drawer with oval and rectangular panels with diagonal banded borders and ovolo corners, above two bowed doors and demilune panels flanked by a drawer and door with conforming inlay, the square tapering legs with oval, lozenge, and string inlay, replaced brasses, refinished, minor imperfections, ht. 41, wd. 72, dp. 27, sold together with a pair of mahogany knife boxes, each inlaid with an urn and a border which matches the detail on the sideboard, ht. 15 1/4, wd. 8 3/4, dp. 9 3/4 in.
Provenance: A note inside a door reads "Hepplewhite sideboard from the Home of Emily H. Riddle, Purchased in Charleston, S.C."
