Ferrari - 400 Cabriolet Stommel - Manual "NO RESERVE" - 1978

[ translate ]

Model history: The Ferrari 400 V12 with 5-speed manual gearbox and Weber carburettors is an extremely rare model produced in just 147 units from 1976 to 1979 and is the last with V12 carburettor, successor to the Ferrari 330 GTC, 365 and Daytona. The 400 version was never officially offered as a “Cabriolet”, but because of the great demand, some ateliers, in collaboration with dealers, converted very few units: Pavesi in Italy, Straman in California, Stommel Con-Moda in Germany. The Cabriolet conversion even cost twice as much as the Ferrari! Condition and details: This European 400 is one of five made in Germany by the Stommel Con-Moda atelier and is the most admired design: the soft top folds down electrically, making the car a true ROADSTER. Ferrari “Azzurro Hyperion” colour, equipped with power steering, air conditioning, front and rear electric windows. The “matching number” engine is original from birth, the number can be found in the Ferrari service booklet (00242) . History and maintenance are fully documented and known from birth. It was delivered new to its first German owner in Bolzano (Italy) before being sold to France and then Belgium, where it received a total engine restoration by Ferrari specialist Valenti Auto, documented to cost over €50,000 (photo) . The odometer shows only 85,676 km, which are original and documented from 1978 until the last invoice in 2021. In August 2021, a restoration of the carpet, all front and rear suspension with new parts and the electrical system were completed (photos and invoices) . The exhaust is completely made of stainless steel, the Michelin TRX tyres are new, fitted in 2018. Autoretrò magazine in 2016 featured an 8-page article entitled “Melodie au grand air” (photo) . A compression test gave great results. Including a new vintage car radio to be fitted. A video of the engine, driving, hood and car are available, please ask Catawiki. Please note: A/C complete but not working. Registered collector’s car with FFVE (Federation Francaise Vehicules Epoque) certificate. “Convertible” documents duly registered. Bidders are welcome to view and test the vehicle, which is in Quarrata 51039, PT, Italy. Please, send a message to Catawiki for an appointment. Shipping to Italy, Europe and the rest of the world at affordable rates. Follow our NO RESERVE auctions.
