Fine Southern Mahogany and Tiger Maple Bedstead

probably Virginia or Washington D.C. area, 1815-1825, with finely carved mahogany foot posts with bellflower, grapevine, and leaf decoration, reeded posts and turned legs, highly figured maple turned head posts, pale green upholstered canopy, upholstered scalloped hangings,ÿ102 x 81-1/2 x 68 in., Provenance: Estate of Aubrey Hancock, Charleston, South Carolina
Condition Report: top of posts extended 15 inches,ÿbottom 2-1/2 inches of feet replaced, original rails with pegs for ropes (rails fitted with modern brackets for mattress, rails with some plugged mortise holes from alteration), patch at headboard at one metal connection to head post (other metal connector replaced), head post with minor chip and one area of infill
