Footnote: Provenance: Wood Dalling Hall, Norfolk The sitter, Mary Altham (d. 1768), was a daughter of John Beard Esq., Governor of Bengal. She married Peyton Altham (1695-1741), of Mark Hall, Essex, on 29 October 1721, with whom she had eight children. Her youngest son, Sir William Altham (1736-1818), altered Mark Hall before selling the estate in 1778 to his cousin, William Lushington (1748-1823).
