Four Chinese Carved Rosewood armchairs
A set of four Chinese carved rosewood dining chairs, first half 20th century, comprising two pairs of armchairs, the yoked crest rail above a carved, pierced and marble inset back splat decorated with fruit, flora and fauna, the rectangular and serpentine paneled seat over shaped seat rails, raised on cabriole legs joined by an H stretcher.
Dimensions:Height 36 3/4in; width 25 1/4in; depth of seat 18 1/4in; seat height 18in.
Condition Report: Each structurally sound. General marks, wear, scuffs and Surface scratches. Each with wear heaviest and substantial shrinkage to the paneled seats. Three armchairs with age cracks to armrests, one of those with a spliced repair to the armrest/hand hold. One chair with the marble inset splat possibly replaced. One paneled seat with a full horizontal age crack and filling-in. One inset marble panel with a crack and possible repair.
