Four Vintage Russian Laquerware Boxes and a Porcelain Music Box

second half 20th century, each exterior hand-painted with traditional figural designs and gilt decoration over black, including a long box with elaborate equestrian allegorical narrative, marked Made in Russia to underside (1 1/2 x 3 1/2 x 8 1/2 in.); rectangular box with eight figures within a forest, inscribed and dated in Cyrillic to edge (2 x 5 x 7 in.); a shaped small box with two figures before a castle, inscribed and dated in Cyrillic to edge (1 1/2 x 3 x 3 1/2 in.); the smallest box inscribed to lid border with worn mark to underside (1 x 1 5/8 x 2 in.). Also included is a porcelain music box painted with festive and dancing figures in an interior, marked to underside (2 1/2 x 5 x 2 1/4 in.).
The Estate of the late Frank Daniels, Jr. and his wife Julia Jones Daniels, Raleigh, North Carolina. A portion of the sale proceeds will be donated to the North Carolina Museum of History Foundation
