Framed 19th C. European Impressionist Painting

[ translate ]

**Originally Listed At $300**

Jennie Gray Bradly (European, possibly English, German, or French), untitled Impressionist landscape painting, ca. late 19th to early 20th century CE. Signed on lower left. A beautiful oil on board painting of a lakeshore vista, created during the heyday of Impressionism. The artist captured the essence of the scene with loose brushwork that conjures a sense of spontaneity and softly conveys the forms, an emphasis on light effects, and an embrace of color rather than neutral hues. During the 1870s, French Impressionism made its mark on the art world. Although at first many rejected what was deemed a radical style, by the 1880s, collectors appreciated Impressionism for its innovative approach. Many American and European painters visited artists' colonies in France, most notably Giverny, and applied the teachings of Claude Monet to their plein-air compositions. A beautiful Impressionist landscape painting set in a European-style frame of the period. Size: 19.75" W x 14.25" H (50.2 cm x 36.2 cm); 25.125" W x 19.875" H (63.8 cm x 50.5 cm) framed
