Framed 20th C. Bill Freeman Painting - Cascading River

[ translate ]

William E. Freeman - also known as Bill Freeman (American, 1927-2012), oil on canvas, ca. mid 20th century CE. A kinetic river cascades over jutting rocks and felled branches/tree trunks with dramatic splashes of white water resulting from the turbulent flow. Freeman's painting really zooms in on the landscape which is at once beautiful and powerfully sublime. His style demonstrates influences of Impressionism and Post-Impressionism achieved via a sophisticated use of palette knife and brush. The painting is set in a beautiful wooden frame and is ready to hang. Size: 15.5" W x 19.625" H (39.4 cm x 49.8 cm); (frame): 26" W x 30" H (66 cm x 76.2 cm)

Bill Freeman grew up in West Texas on a farm just outside of El Paso. Interestingly, he worked as a horse wrangler, fought forest fires for the U.S. Forest Service, and was a field researcher and guide for the Arizona Game and Fish Department for twelve years in Arizona, Wyoming, and New Mexico prior to becoming an artist. It was not until the age of thirty that Freeman decided to become an artist specializing in Western landscapes. Today he is considered a pioneer of Western art centered on such storied locales as Scottsdale, Arizona and Jackson Hole, Wyoming.
