France - 1873 - Manufacture d'Arme de St Etienne - Chassepot - Percussion - Rifle - 11mm cal Chassepot

Authentic Chassepot rifle, 1866 model, Saint Etienne weapons factory, ALL with the same number. Chassepot rifle, 1866 model, from the Saint Etienne weapons factory, dated 1873, all parts with the same number (it is not a reassembly, all original!) . Type of rifle used during the Second Empire - Napoleon III and at the Battle of Sedan, in particular. 11 mm calibre, original Chassepot, unmodified, with distinct rifling marks inside the barrel (see photos) . Perfectly functional breech, which works very well, with complete cocking hammer, needle and rubber included (see photos) . Breech not modified, with its original Chassepot appearance. Very healthy walnut wood frame, showng just a few small traces of surface wear (3-4 small scratches and two 5 mm dents under the butt) . Darkened metal, very healthy, no sign of corrosion. A real museum piece, wrthy of a demanding collector. Collector's item. Feel free to request additional photos. Markings: Barrel: Registration number 7534, letter Q (marking present in 2 places, at the bayonet holder and on the side of the breech) + S 1873 + MA for ‘Manufacture d'Armes’ + FV + M in a circle and J in a circle. Breech: Q 7534 on the 2 removable components of the breech Rod: letter L and number 7534. Wood: Big number Q 7534 on one side of the butt and round stamp with the inscription August 1873 +M + S and MA in the boxwood centre of the macaron (for ‘Manufacture d'Armes’) + letter B topped by a crown. Screws: number 89 present on all screws (except the 2 small ones on the movable breech) . Muzzle: letters G + M + B Muzzle band: letters G and J + letters G and M Features: Total length: 131 cm Barrel: 95 cm Rod: 88 cm Weight: 4. 2 kg Re-blued!
