Converted officer's pistol with percussion - year XII type - general officer - Boutet-COULAUX: Calibre: 14 mm Barrel length: 21 cm Pistol length: 34 cm First Empire/Restoration era Flintlock converted to percussion, signed ‘COULAUX Strasbourg’. In 1802, the Coulaux family was an arms factory contractor in Strasbourg, before creating the famous arms factory in Mutzig in 1803. Octagonal barrel, slightly flared at the mouth, marked on the upper panel ‘COULAUX a Strasbourg’, and hallmarked on the bolt with ‘NB’ inside an oval cartridge (barrel by Nicolas Boutet, gunsmith at Versailles) . Nicolas BOUTET was the famous director of the Versailles factory until 1818. All steel and engraved fittings, adjustable trigger, gridded butt. Please Note: the wooden rod is not original. Mechanism in good condition, complete and functional, very firm springs. The inside of the barrel is oxidized, but the ‘hairline’ grooves are still present. Wood in good, healthy condition.
