France - 19th Century - Mid to Late - Manufacture de Saint Etienne - double canons damassés - finement gravé - Pinfire (Lefaucheux) - Rifle - 16 ga

Superb antique rifle with damasked double barrells, signed and hallmarked by the National Arms Factory of Saint Etienne (circa 1870-1880) , pinfire system (Lefaucheux) , 16 calibre. It works perfectly mechanically, with two well-synchronised notch positions and big percussion. locking/unlocking and toggling work well. - barrel with its original damask bronzing, patinated and still uniform and in good condition. - beautiful varnished walnut wood, with small signs of use and age, small dents and small gaps (at top of lock - see photos) but still in very good condition and solid. - lock plates and receiver in finely engraved polished steel - very slight play in the hammers and the keys for this antique weapon, without any impact on its proper functioning. Interesting rifle, close to 150 years old, patinated, with signs of wear and age, but still in good condition and with good mechanical functioning.
