The two characters mentioned on this medal are Carlo Ferdinando of Bourbon, Duke of Berry, second son of Charles d'Artois, future King of France with the name of Charles X, and Carolina Ferdinanda of Bourbon, the eldest daughter of the King of the two Sicilies Ferdinando I, married for the first time in Paris in the cathedral of Notre-Dame on 17 June 1816.
