Chassepot GRAS Rifle 1874 of a cadet or school at Châtellerault 1881 : Total length: 115 cm Barrel length: 70 cm School rifle, a perfect copy of the Gras rifle, model 1874, but reduced. Shooting is reduced, shorter cartridge at 11 mm calibre. Used under the third republic after the war of 1870, for the training of school battalions. Regulatory marking C 1881 (Manufacture d'armes de Châtellerault, 1881) . Metal parts: no oxidation, original tan. Number 2249 on the thunder and 2254 on the breech. Moving breech mechanism in very good condition, complete and functional, tight lock. Round grooved barrel, very distinct rifling marks. Wood in very good condition.
