Francis Smith 1881-1961 Gouache Landscape Painting

Francis Smith (Portugal, 1881-1961). A gouache painting on heavy card stock board. The artwork portrays a folk art style Portuguese rural village scene, highlighting the side of a foliate covered mountain with architecture and figures leisurely strolling through the walkways. The artist's signature is positioned in the lower left corner. The painting is presented in a gilt frame without glass, with a bronze plaque bearing the artist's name positioned at the bottom center of the frame.

Condition: Good overall vintage condition having a diminutive craquelure to the work throughout with a little paint loss in the lower left quadrant, and what appears to be some water spotting in the top areas of the work. The frame is in good condition showing mild evidence of storage wear to the edges and corners. There is not glass protection. Estate fresh to the market.
