The Lantern, a copy of the Choragic Monument of Lysicrates at Athens, was constructed in terracotta by the Trabucci brothers and exhibited at the Louvre in 1802. Purchased by Napoleon, it was installed on top of the obelisk designed by Pierre Fontaine. When Napoleon was in residence at the chateau it was illuminated for all Paris to see.
