Fukang Meteorite Slice Pallasite, PMG Fukang, Xinjiang Uygur Province, China - (44° 26'N, 87° 38'E) Found: 2000 The Fukang Meteorite has been referred to as the "Queen of Space Gems" and was discovered in China in the year 2000. With the bulk of this gorgeous pallasite meteorite on display at OSIRIS-REx Mission Control in Tucson, Arizona, very little of this lovely material is available to collectors. Translucent Olivine crystals (the non-gem version of the August birthstone Peridot) in Fukang are among the largest in any known pallasite and exhibit a dazzling jade-green coloration when illuminated. Large examples of Fukang have all but disappeared from the marketplace making superlative examples few, and far between. This "show-stopping" laboratory prepared slice is loaded with larger crystals and features a significant amount of Iron. This superb slice weighs 77.6 grams and is vibrant on both similar, yet varied, sides. Overall Measurements: 3.48 x 3.13 x 0.11 inches (8.85 x 7.95 x 0.27 cm), weighs 77.6 grams [Scale: 1 inch, with mark at 1 cm]
