Presentation copy, Juta and Company Limited, Capetown, Wynberg, and Johannesburg, 1956. single volume, first edition, 8vo., (220 x 148mm), original grey boards, gilt lettering to spine, original dustwrapper, complete, presentation ink inscription on front pastedown from the author to Dr. and Mrs. Donald Hunter dated 1956. Provenance: Doctor Donald Hunter was a British physician and author of a classic text on occupational diseases: PENNY, Fanny, Emily. (1847 - 1939) and LAWLEY, Annie Allen, nee Cunard. (1863 - 1944). Southern India, plates painted by Lady Lawley, described by Fanny Emily Penny. A. & C. Black, London, 1914. single volume, first edition, 8vo., (224 x 170mm), original orange cloth, black lettering to front cover within ornamental frame of patterns in black and yellow, spine also stamped with pattern and lettered in gilt, complete, 50 plates with tissue-guards, including frontispiece, folding map: The Banks of the Nile, plates painted by Lady Lawley, described by John A. Todd. A. & C. Black, London, 1913. single volume, first edition, 8vo., (225 x 172mm), original cream pictorial cloth, spine lettered in gilt, ink gift inscription on front e/p., complete, 60 plates with tissue-guards, including frontispiece, 2 folding maps: RATTRAY, Robert Sutherland. (1881 - 1938). The Tribes of the Ashanti Hinterland. Clarendon Press, Oxford, 1932. two volumes, first edition, 8vo., (230 x 153mm), original red cloth, spine lettered in gilt, continuous pagination as issued, complete, 158 illustrations on plates (1 of these as frontispiece), many pages uncut. (5)

Condition Report:
1. Southern India - some wear to corners, and cloth at lower hinge, edges of pages are a little browned,

2. The Banks of the Nile - a little wear to corners and extremities, spine has retained its colour and remains quite bright, light spotting throughout, edges of pages block spotted.

3-4.. The Tribes of the Ashanti Hinterland - two volumes, cloth faded at edges of covers and spine,, corners a little worn, head and tails of spine slightly rubbed with a small tear in the cloth at the head of volume II, foxing on endpapers.

5. Medicine and Magic of the Mashona - some spotting along top edge of pages block, some discolouration to head and tail of spine, spine and extremities a little darkened, head and tail chipped and torn all the way round with some loss, tear with some loss at spine.
