LOT NOTES
Dr. Joseph Peukert (1913-1975) was a doctor, as well as an avid traveler and collector along with his wife, Mrs. Edith Peukert. The couple had an especially keen interest in Southeast Asian artworks, which they collected during their visits to India, Bali, Sri Lanka and Europe. During one such visit, Dr. Peukert developed a relationship with George Keyt, after which he acquired lots 16 and 17 of the present sale and arranged for their delivery from the artist's studio in Colombo to the couple's home in Sydney.
