Condition Report:
Overall in excellent condition. This long chair was commissioned directly from Nakashima and retains its original fabric cushions. The wood surfaces of this chair present with very faint indentations, consistent with age and gentle use. On the armrest, there is one minute loss to the wood to the underside of the armrest on the proper right side measuring less than approximately ⅝ of an inch, very minor and not visually detractive. The feet present with some faint surface scratches, as well as some minor dents, consistent with age and use. The cotton webbing is original to the chair and presents with sun fading, slackening, and some minor losses to the threads webbing surrounding the wooden edges, consistent with age and use. The chair remarkably retains its original green cotton cushions which present with some staining and sun fading, as well as some desiccation of the foam, inherent to the natural aging process of the material over time. An outstanding example of this highly sculptural chair form, distinguished by its highly artistic and ambitious wood selection.
