Condition Report:
Overall in very good condition. A superlative example of Guyot's masterful technique and unparalleled understanding of animal anatomy, this piece is enriched with a dark patina in well-preserved condition. The homogenous surface presents with light surface scratches consistent with age and gentle handling. The black patina also presents with areas of minor discoloration concentrated to the edges, most visible on the face and base, consistent with age and revealing a bright bronze undersurface. The recessed areas of the sculpture present with very light surface soiling consistent with age and not visually distracting. An incredibly charming and naturalistic work by the animalier sculptor.
