GERMAN AMERICAN BUND PRESENTATION LETTER OPENER
A rare letter opener with dedication inscription to "Rudolf Tauscher" on one side and "FEB 20 1939" and the German American Bund, or German American Federation (German: Amerikadeutscher Bund; Amerikadeutscher Volksbund, AV) emblem. The dedication is related to the prominent event of the Bund, the rally at Madison Square Garden in New York City on February 20, 1939. AV was a German-American pro-Nazi organization established in 1936 to succeed Friends of New Germany (FoNG), the Bund was to consist only of American citizens of German descent. Its main goal was to promote a favorable view of Nazi Germany.
