Condition Report:
Overall the condition of the wood is good, with some wear and dirt to the surface consistent with age. There is a loss to the proper right little finger. The church detaches and is possibly a later addition. There is some stable splitting to the wood, consistent with the material, including open splits to the mitre on the proper left side and to the drapery between the legs; there is some wax fill to the latter. The proper right hand is carved separately and a joint is visible at the proper right wrist. There are some original knots in the wood. Minor evidence of past worming, including to the church (with some wax fill), to the proper left arm, the proper left side of the chest. Remnants of polychromy, notably in the face. A section on the proper right side of the saint is carved separately. The figure is flat and relief-like in conception.
Provenance:
Formerly noble collection, Bavaria
