GLEB W. DERUJINSKY AMERICAN/RUSSIAN, 1888–1975 TERRACOTA FIGURE OF AN ANGEL

This figure is believed to depict the artist's daughter Nataly as a child. Terracotta on a wood pedestal signed "G. Derujinsky", ca. 1950.

Bibliography: Irina Bulazel "Gleb W. Derujinsky, Sculpture", Istituto Arti Grafiche Mengarelli, Rome, Italy, 2002 (description on p. 54).

A sensitively modeled terracotta sculpture depicting a reclining infant girl, the artist’s daughter. Rendered with Derujinsky’s characteristic softness of form and impressionistic surface modeling, the figure captures a moment of playful rest.
