GOLDEN AGE S. H. ST. CLAIR SIGNED KENTUCKY RIFLE

He is listed as an early Pennsylvania rifle maker born Feb. 1, 1793 in Kratzerville PA. Made his first gun in 1823 in Union/Jackson Township Snyder County and Walker Township, Juniata County in 1835-1838. He is listed as having passed in 1849. His facsimile signature is engraved into the top flat of the 40" barrel which is bored at .45 caliber. It is a delicate ladies or youths rifle and has the graceful lines of a Ferrari sports car. The full length tiger stripe maple stock is lovely with four scalloped silver escutcheons on each side. The left side of stock has some fine incision work with silver quarter man in the moon. Features brass furniture with double set triggers. The ornate patch box features some fine line engraving. The lock is stamped A . Armstrong Philadelphia. The barrel and lock are a smooth silky patina. At one time, the fore-end in front of the rear sight was spliced and restored where the finish and decorations were perfectly matched.
