GROUP OF THREE LACQUERWARE TEA CADDIES
comprising:
a) A PEWTER INLAID TEA CADDY, CANTON, 19TH CENTURY, of rectangular form, the exterior decorated with a traditional scenes, centered a single key hole, the interior with a pewter compartment with a conforming foliate and floral design with single bone thumb rest, revealing the compartmentalized interior; height: 9 cm (3 1/2 in.), dimensions: 13 x 26 cm (5 1/8 x 10 1/4 in.)
b) A ENGLISH REGENCY TEA CADDY, C. 1825, of square form with rounded edges, atop four wooden sea creature feet, the exterior decorated with traditional garden scenes, centered a single key hole, the interior with a two seperate pewter compartments with a conforming floral and foliate design each with bone thumb rests; height: 15 cm (5 7/8 in.), dimensions of box: 15 x 23 cm (5 7/8 x 9 in.)
c) A WOOD LACQUER TEA CADDY, MOST-LIKELY CHINESE EXPORT, of rectangular form with rounded and curved edges, the exterior decorated with traditional garden and interior scenes, with a centered key hole; height: 10 cm (4 in.), dimensions: 11 x 28 cm (4 3/8 x 11 in.)
CONDITION
The group appears in age-appropriate, stable but fragile condition.
a) The hinge on the left side has separated. Rubbing to the edges resulting in scattered losses and flaking. A crack is visible to the right side panel, measuring 5 cm (2 in.) in length. Not accompanied with a key.
b) In stable but fragile condition. Rubbing and flaking to the exterior. The wooden feet are very delicate and fragile. Not accompanied with a key.
c) Rubbing to the exterior, minor nicks and chips along the bottom. Flaking, unevenness and chips to the lid. Accompanied by a single key.
