Gandhara Schist Panel - Descent of Buddha from Trayastrimsa Heaven

Ca. 200-300 AD Amazing Gandhara Schist Panel probably part of a series chronicling the life of the Buddha, showing the Descent from the Heaven of the Thirty-three gods (Trayastrimsa) , where he had gone to preach the law to his mother. The haloed central Buddha, depicted in a upright position, stands on a rounded plith; wears voluminous robe, leaving only his feet and hands visible. He is surrounded by multiple worshipers in kneeling and standing postions. Panel is framed at the bottom with repetetive incised pattern. This item includes a Certificate of Authenticity from Pax Romana London.
