George II Sterling Silver Pair of Sauce Boats by John Pollock

A very fine pair of heavy Sterling Silver oval shaped sauce boats, each with quilted double scroll handles on three knurled scroll and shell feet with gadrooned rims.
The Hallmarks on the underneath are worn but legible enough to make out the makers stamp for John Pollock of London, dating them between 1739-1759. Despite being George II period the condition is very good, although the legs on one have worked slightly into the boat.
There is family crest on one side, a demi rampant lion holding a crook. This may represent the Bermondsey family, as seen on the Chelsea Football Club Crest. A pair of boats of this size would have graced a large table, and as such are a rarity.
