George III Sterling Silver Epergne, George Ashforth &

English sterling silver epergne or centerpiece, hallmarked for George Ashforth and Company, Sheffield, 1799. Consisting of an oval cut glass center bowl, set in an oval frame with gadrooned edges, supported by four legs with pierced laurel leaf and rosette capitals, terminating in paw feet, and joined by an oval undertier with a turned finial. Four removable oval arms with gadroon and foliate decorations fit into legs and support four small oval cut glass bowls. Frame and arms hallmarked. Fully assembled: 11 3/8" H x 22" W x 19" D. Frame only: 9 3/8" H x 12 7/8" W x 9 1/4" D. 33.445 total troy ounces.

Deaccessioned by the Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts Foundation to benefit the acquisitions fund.
Condition Report: Overall very good condition with light surface scratches, primarily to interior of frame and arms. One arm is slightly bent, off center. Cut glass bowls with scattered fleabites to top edges, surface scratches to base of center bowl.
