Georg Hendrik Breitner
Rotterdam September 12, 1857 - Amsterdam June 5, 1923
Studied in Rotterdam under the supervision of C. Nurdenburg (Drawing) and later C. Rochussen (1875) . Then in The Hague student of the Hague drawing academy 1875-1882. In 1880 advice from W. Maris. Then in Paris in 1884 lessons from F. Cormon. Left in 1886 for Amsterdam (lessons at the Rijksacademie, under the supervision of among others A. Allebé (1886-1887) Amsterdam painter of life on the street, also made many nudes and was a friend of the Hussars, with his cavalry and artillery representations. He etched, but was above all a great impressionist in his watercolours, has won many awards with his works at national and international exhibitions.
