Eeckhout, Attributed to Gerbrand van den (1621-1674), Portrait of a Rabbi, 17th century, oil on panel, 25 x 18.5 inches, in an elaborate wood frame measuring 36 x 29.5 inches. A stoic, bearded figure in fur hat. Eeckhout was a student of Rembrandt and, like his master, routinely depicted Jewish and Old Testament figures. Provenance: From the estate of Arthur B. de Saint Maurice, the great-grandson of the Hudson River School painter Regis Gignoux.
Condition Report: Layer of surface dirt, faintly visible scratch running vertically down the center of the painting, overall good condition.
