Germany, Offices in China -- Hankow, 1898, 25pf Orange, 56 Degree Overprint (5; Michel 5IIa). Vertical strip of four, cancelled by two excellent strikes of framed "Hankau" cancel on Apr. 1900 cover with printed address to Hamburg, Germany, sender's directive "by first mail", violet Apr. 20, 1900 company datestamp on back (name scraped out), Hamburg (May 27) arrival backstamp VERY FINE AND BEAUTIFUL USE OF THE 1898 25-PFENNINGS WITH 56 DEGREE OVERPRINT ON COVER WITH THE PROVISIONAL HANKow CANCEL. These provisional cancels are recorded from Apr. 1-Apr. 27, 1900 and were used out of necessity before the normal circular datestamp was supplied by the German post office. Signed Willmann and Richter. With 2010 Steuer certificate.
