Germany, Offices in China -- Hankow, 1898, 20pf Ultramarine, 45 Degree Overprint (4a; Michel 4I). Tied by excellent strike of framed "Hankau" cancel on 1900 cover to Tsingtao, Shanghai (Apr. 12) transit and Tsingtao (Apr. 18) arrival datestamps, cover with slightly rough opening, still Very Fine, these provisional cancels are recorded from Apr. 1-Apr. 27, 1900 and were used out of necessity before the normal circular datestamp was supplied by the German post office, with 2014 Jaschke-Lantelme certificate
