Germany, Used in China, 1889, 3pf Brown (46; Michel M45c). Two horizontal pairs and three singles, all tied by "Shanghai, Deutsche Post 12/12 98" circular datestamps on cover to Hagen, Germany, sender's directive "Per French Mail", Hagen (Jan. 17, 1899" arrival backstamp, cover with couple file folds, one which crosses three stamps at top, otherwise Very Fine, a scarce use of these German stamps after issuance of the "China" overprints (placed into use during the first half of 1898)
